When You Should Upgrade These 3 Home Theater Products

by Alan Andrews

If you love home electronic products, you probably have a fear of missing out every time a new tech product comes out that is better than what you currently have. You'll either want those new features or have buyers remorse that your current system isn't good enough. However, sometimes it is worth making the upgrade to improve your home theater for the better. Here are some reasons why you should consider upgrading the following products.

Audio Receivers

There have been many changes in audio receivers over the years that can justify upgrading this component of your home theater. If you are still using an older system that supports 5.1 surround sound through Dolby Digital, it may be time to upgrade. The latest audio receivers are going to support the latest codecs that you may not be able to take advantage of, such as Dolby Atmos or 7.1 surround sound. If you're missing out on those audio mixes and listening to the less superior codec from over twenty years ago, it may be worth upgrading.

Know that you may not need to have the latest and greatest audio receiver if you are on a budget. As long as you have a receiver that supports the codecs that you need, you can buy a receiver that is a previous model and save some cash. Just make sure it is not lacking key audio codecs that you could use in the future.

Blu-ray Player

You may have a Blu-ray player that has served you well over the years, but now you find yourself lacking the ability to play the Ultra 4K Blu-rays that have improved visuals. This is one upgrade that is definitely worth making, especially if you have a 4K television now in your home theater. Ultra 4K Blu-ray players have significantly come down in price and so have the associated media that you play on them. If you find that your Ultra 4K Blu-ray collection has grown due to all the deals that you have found, but have no way to play them, now is the time to upgrade this component.

Television

Are you still using a plasma or LED television in your home theater? They may have served you well over the years, but they are old technology that offers inferior picture quality. Make the upgrade to an OLED TV, where each pixel has its own individual light source. It allows picture quality with the deepest blacks and the best possible contrast ratio, and will immediately make any content have an improved visual quality that is noticeable.
